THE CHAMPION - 1915 ESSANAY FILM
This is another boxing film, he had a short cameo in the Keystone film Knock Out and of course in City Lights.
Charlie is getting ready to get in the ring to box, he is being encouraged to throw the fight.
His Essanay films which were between his Keystones (1914) and Mutual (1916) film period are not viewed as much as his Mutual short films and his later feature films. His Essanay are a mixture between his Keystones and Mutuals. To me it is interesting to see the evolution of the tramp. Someone once told me the tramp of 1931 would not want to hang out with the tramp of 1914
